Is The Use Of Straws Part Of What Causes Wrinkles?

Every now and then we see people whether in parties, parks, public event, occasion and so on, making use of straws. Does the use of straw part of what causes wrinkles? This is exactly what we shall be looking at in this article.
The truth is that the use of straws actually causes wrinkles to develop around the lip area of the mouth. This type of wrinkles is known as lip lines. If you have been following my blog, you will understand what wrinkles are all about. Perhaps, this is my first time of discussing about lip lines. Does straw causes wrinkles.
In recent times, there has been this question about straws and lip lines. The truth is that drinking through straw may not cause wrinkles around the mouth. However, wrinkles can occur when there is repetition of movement. In other words, repetition of movement around the mouth caused as a result of the use of straw will likely increase your chance of having lip lines.

Mind you, someone who uses straws few times a week or one or two times a day should not have course to worry. But, for someone who uses straws several times a day or for more than 25 times everyday stand a chance of having wrinkle developing in the areas around the mouth, and this of course we know is not common.
I know you might be tempted to ask. Why are there not many people with lip lines considering the number of straw users? The truth is that, what causes wrinkles is not by a single factor, several other factors are responsible. For instance, the movement or shape of the mouth when using straw or smoking cigarette is practically the same. But, someone who smokes is at a higher risk of developing wrinkles as compared to someone who uses straws without involving in cigarette smoking. So, you are more likely to develop wrinkles faster when you smoke and use straws as compared to someone who make use of straws only.
Another example is sun’s exposure. Someone who exposes the skin to the sun will likely get lip lines and wrinkles when they make use of straws than someone who do not.
There are several other factors that could also contribute to the quick development of wrinkles on the lips when you make use of straws. I restricted myself to these two examples as I have write about it in my past articles.
A final note is that for you to be free from lip lines causes by straws or at least prolong it, you must learn how to prevent wrinkles.

How do you prevent this from happening? Many people expose themselves to conditions that favour the development of wrinkles on the skin, thus, making them susceptible or prone to premature wrinkles. Preventing wrinkles is very important and you must do so early. If you are still young, you can start now to prevent wrinkles by following the tips I am going to share below. The following tips below will help you prevent premature wrinkling of the skin.

How to prevent premature wrinkles

  •  Wear sunscreen: Sunlight is one of the major causes of wrinkles. The sun’s rays are harmful and can cause havoc on the skin. Protect your skin from these rays by wearing sunscreen. Sunscreen with SPF protection can protect your skin from the sun’s damage. These days some skin care products now contain sunscreen SPF. You can use such products. It is important to note that it is not enough to apply sunscreen; you must ensure that you continue to reapply for about two hours interval for extra time spent in the sun. Do this more if you are spending longer time outdoor such as playing sports or involving in outdoor sporting activities. Another important point is to apply sunscreen no matter the weather outside including cloudy weather and during winter.
  • Stop smoking: It is no longer new to us about what cigarette does to the health. Do you know it can also affect your skin thereby causing wrinkles? Smokers are likely going to develop “smoker lines” when they smoke often. It generally leads to wrinkles developing early in the skin. This is because it damages the collagen and elastin in the skin. These elements help to keep the skin together. When these proteins are damaged, wrinkles become inevitably close.
  • Avoid dry skin: Try as much as possible to avoid dry skin. Take proper care of your skin. But if you already have dry skin, then you can do something fast about it to get it back to shape. People with dry skin tend to get wrinkles faster than those who do not or who have a different skin type. For those with dry skin, the best thing to do is to moisturize. You have to moisturize both internally and externally. By internally, I mean by drinking enough water to make and keep the skin hydrated. Externally you can moisturize your skin by making use of moisturizing products.
  • Stop frequent facial expression: Sometimes we do make faces or have facial expression to show our feelings or for fun. Whatever your reasons are, frequent facial movements can cause wrinkles to develop faster along the areas of the face where the movements is made. For those who frown a lot, they are prone to developing frown lines early.
The above are some of the ways by which you can prevent premature wrinkles on the skin. Follow the steps and you will prolong the development of wrinkles on your skin. But, if you are not sure of what to do or you want extra advice, I would suggest you contact your skin doctor or dermatologist.

What Causes Premature Wrinkles On The Skin?

Wrinkles is not what we can run away from and that one day as we grow older we will all have it. Sometimes wrinkles can appear faster than it should have. Sometimes ago I wrote on what causes wrinkles, in this article, we shall look at what causes the skin to wrinkle faster otherwise known as premature wrinkles.
Felt Life

 What causes premature wrinkles?

Essentially, what causes wrinkles are basically aging and environmental circumstances or damage. The first is beyond your control as you cannot stop yourself from growing old. The other to some extent can be controlled. Below are some of the causes of premature wrinkling of the skin.
  • Skin type: the type of skin that you have will determine the rate at which your skin wrinkles. For instance, dry skin wrinkles faster than oily skin. Also a dehydrated skin ages faster than a well hydrated skin. Generally, people with dry skin usually get wrinkled skin earlier than expected.
  • Sun’s exposure or damage: Remember in the introductory part of this article, I stated that premature wrinkles is largely as a result of aging and environmental damage. Sun’s exposure is part of that environmental damage I was referring to. Sunlight is known to cause4 damage to collagen and elastin in the body. These are proteins needed by the body which help to keep the skin together. The destruction of the skin caused by the sun is called photoaging.
  • Smoking: Despite the fact that smoking causes cancer or affects the lungs, it can also affect the skin. How? Smoke from cigarette is known to contain chemical which damage the collagen and elastin In the body. Remember I stated that these proteins are needed by the skin. When these proteins are damaged, wrinkles can start to occur. This can lead to premature wrinkling of the skin.
  • Hereditary: Wrinkles have also been traced to hereditary. This account for the fact that some people age earlier or have wrinkles earlier than others, even though they may not involve in activities that causes wrinkles. But, they will get wrinkles faster when they involve in such activities. So, you are likely going to have wrinkles early if your mother or father has them early.
  • Yoyo dieting: Yoyo dieting which is also known as chronic dieting is another cause of premature wrinkles. What is yoyo dieting? In a simple way, it is the process whereby an individual involves in repeated weight loss and weight gain. These repeated body changes can cause wrinkles. For instance, when the body gains weight, it stretches and this can affect its elasticity especially when the collagen and elastin has been damaged or has weakened. On the other hand, when the body loses weight, it sags.
  • Werner’s syndrome: This point should have been tied or talked about under hereditary. But, I decide to separate it to make it stand out or noticeable. Werner’s syndrome is an inherited disease. This disease causes rapid aging thus making people who are suffering from the disease to look far older than they would have been.
  • Repeated facial movement: Whether knowingly or unknowingly, we sometimes make faces. These facial expressions cause wrinkles. For instance, a comedian who make faces to make people laugh, may likely have wrinkles on the part of the face where the movement is made than someone who does not. In the same vein, someone who frowns a lot will develop frown lines earlier than someone who does not. The same for those who smile a lot as they may likely develop smile wrinkles or laugh lines.
The above are some of the causes of premature wrinkling of the skin. Understanding or knowing about these causes is very important as it will help to prevent you from having it, if you haven’t already. If you already have it, it will prevent it from getting worse. My next article will be on how to prevent premature wrinkling of the skin. In the mean time, you can share your thoughts on the above topic.

Does Frowning Shorten Lifespan?

This post was necessitated by one of my readers who asked a question in the comment section of one of my post on Reasons to Smile More and Frown Less. I have since posted a reply and promise to post a short post on the topic so that other readers who may as well have this kind of question in mind may also benefit.

Does Frowning Shorten Lifespan?
Frowning does no directly cause or shorten lifespan.  But, some of the causes of frowning may lead to shorten lifespan. For instance, someone who smokes is likely going to frown which can cause frown lines to develop on the forehead as well as wrinkles on the skin. This is because smoke causes a drop in the production of collagen and elastin in the body. These two proteins are known to keep our body together. The same person that smokes is likely going to die young. So, cigarette can cause one to frown and can also shortens lifespan.
Another example is stress. Someone who is stressed is likely going to frown. If the stress is not properly managed, over a period, it can become a habit which can shorten a person’s lifespan.
There are few other examples I would have share with you but because I want to make it short, I decided to stop at two.
People do not frown just for the fun of it, if they do, its in few causes and for a short time. They frown because it is being triggered by something else. It is those things most times, if not tackle, that can shorten lifespan not necessary frowning.
